Hey there, anglers! Ready to hit the flats and backwaters of Panama City Beach for some world-class inshore fishing? Captain Jeremy VanderVeen here, and I'm pumped to take you out for four action-packed hours chasing redfish, speckled trout, and flounder. Whether you're a seasoned pro or it's your first time wetting a line, we'll get you on the fish and have a blast doing it. Let's break down what you can expect on this private charter that's got locals and visitors alike coming back for more.
We'll kick things off by meeting at the marina where I'll get you geared up with top-notch tackle and bait. Once we're loaded up, we'll cruise out to some of my favorite honey holes in the bays and estuaries around PCB. I've been fishing these waters for years, so I know where the fish are biting and how to put you on them. We'll start with some light instruction if you need it, then it's all about getting those lines in the water. I'll be right there with you, offering tips and tweaking our approach based on what the fish are doing that day. And hey, if you hook into something big, I might even let you keep the rod!
Inshore fishing is all about versatility, folks. We might start off sight-casting to tailing reds in the shallows, then switch to drifting live bait for trout over grass flats. If the flounder are hanging around structure, we'll break out the jigs and work them slowly along the bottom. I've got a bunch of tricks up my sleeve, from popping corks to topwater lures, and we'll use whatever's working best that day. The beauty of inshore fishing is that the conditions are always changing, so we'll adapt on the fly to maximize our chances of a killer catch.
Don't just take my word for it – here's what some of our recent guests had to say about their time on the water:
"Jeremy wasn't a fishing guide, he was like a life time fishing buddy that was sharing his honey hole with you need just found. (I hope that's what they call it on the ocean, that's what we call it on the river and lakes in the mid west.) He was our friend from the start of making out reservation to right now... My son moved to PCB last year, me and my wife didn't really like it since we're in Kansas, but knowing my son now has a friend like Jeremy it's a little better now. The time we had on the water was perfect, we caught a lot of snapper, and also hooked into a shark. Just a few seconds after I hooked the shark, that had eaten most likely the biggest snapper of the day I realized I was too old to fight this fight...I handed the pole to my son and getting to watch my boy fight a shark for what seemed like hours was about as good as watching him take his first defense turnover in for a touchdown. I got to watch my son catch a freaking shark. Thanks again Jeremy I'll never forget this first time, and I knew we will see you again for more perfect memories and fishing." - Steven
"In just a few short hours, we checked off all of our bucket list, fish that we wanted to catch. He took us straight to the spots, and we started catching fish relatively fast. His passion for fishing shows through his work. He was an absolute blast to be around. Definitely try him out. You have no idea what you're missing if you don't." - Romie
Let's talk about the stars of the show – the fish we'll be targeting on this trip. Each one brings something special to the table, and trust me, once you've tangled with these inshore bruisers, you'll be hooked for life.
Redfish: These copper-colored beauties are the bread and butter of inshore fishing in PCB. Also known as red drum, these guys can range from slot-sized puppies to bull reds over 40 inches. They love to cruise the shallows, tailing in mere inches of water as they root for crabs and baitfish. When a red takes your bait, hold on tight – they'll make a run that'll have your drag singing! The best part? They're around all year, but fall is prime time when they school up for their annual spawn.
Speckled Trout: If you're looking for a fish that'll test your finesse, specks are where it's at. These spotted predators are known for their soft mouths and tendency to shake hooks, so a gentle touch is key. We'll target them over grass flats and around oyster bars, using live shrimp or artificial lures. The spring and fall are fantastic for trout fishing, but we can find them year-round if you know where to look. And let me tell you, there's nothing quite like the 'pop' of a big trout hitting a topwater lure at dawn.
Flounder: These flatfish might not look like much, but they're ambush predators that pack a punch. We'll focus on sandy bottoms near structure where flounder like to lay in wait for unsuspecting baitfish. The key is a slow, methodical retrieve – feel for that distinctive 'thump' when a flounder grabs your bait. Fall is the prime time for doormat-sized flounder as they move towards the passes to spawn. And if you've never had fresh flounder for dinner, you're in for a treat!
Alright, folks, there you have it – a sneak peek at what's waiting for you on the inshore waters of Panama City Beach. Whether you're looking to bend a rod, learn some new techniques, or just enjoy a day on the water with friends and family, this trip's got you covered. We provide all the gear, know-how, and local insight to make your fishing dreams a reality. So what are you waiting for? The fish are biting, and your spot on the boat is calling. Give us a shout, and let's get you out on the water for a day of fishing you won't soon forget. Trust me, once you've felt the tug of a Panama City Beach redfish, you'll be planning your next trip before we even hit the dock. See you on the water!
